We all face moments where discouragement tries to weigh us down.

Sometimes, all it takes is one careless comment or a moment of doubt to make you question everything. But each time that happens, I’ve learned to do one thing: go straight to God’s Word.

And every single time — He answers.

“The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” Psalm 145:14

We need only look to Jesus as our example.

Jesus Himself faced moments where discouragement could have taken over. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed in deep anguish, even sweating drops of blood (Luke 22:44). He knew the weight of the cross that lay ahead. He felt the loneliness of being misunderstood, abandoned by His closest friends, and betrayed.

But what did Jesus do in that moment of overwhelming pressure?

He prayed.
He submitted to the Father’s will.
He rose and fulfilled His purpose, even when it cost Him everything.

And because He rose from that place of agony, we can rise from discouragement, too.

“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

Remember, His strength is made perfect in your weakness. “But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Remember, Jesus was abandoned so you would never have to be. “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

When you feel like giving up, remember, He didn’t. He endured for you.

So today, I want to encourage you: Believe. Rise again. Keep going. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11).

I want to share something personal with you. After one of my presentations, I overheard someone say, “Yeah, I didn’t need to come! Inspiration is worthless.”

I was stunned. For a moment, I let that comment sink into my heart, and discouragement tried to take hold.

But then, I remembered: this is one of the gifts God has given me, to inspire and encourage others. And when I do it, it feels effortless, because it’s not about me; it’s about using what God has placed in me to lift others up.

I know how it feels to be discouraged and that’s exactly why I choose to encourage. You never know what extra strength your words might stir in someone else’s spirit.

The Bible tells us that our words carry weight:
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21

And one day, we will give an account for every word we’ve spoken:
“But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.” Matthew 12:36

So, when discouragement comes and it will, look to Jesus. He faced abandonment, betrayal, and unimaginable pain… yet He rose, fulfilled His calling, and changed the world.

“Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” Proverbs 24:16
