Have you ever been paralyzed by fear, feeling like you’re sinking under the weight of uncertainty?
Like the storm around you is too fierce, the waves too high, and no matter how hard you try, you have no control?
Fear whispers, “You’re not strong enough.”
Fear shouts, “This situation is too big for you.”
Fear lies, “You’re alone in this.”
But in the middle of the storm, Jesus is there. His voice cuts through the chaos:
“Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” – Matthew 14:27
Peter, always the bold one, called out, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And with one word, Jesus answered:
“Come.”
At that moment, Peter did the impossible—he stepped out of the boat and walked toward Jesus, defying everything logic and fear told him was impossible. As long as his focus remained on Christ, he stood firm.
But then… the wind howled. The waves crashed. Peter’s eyes shifted from Jesus to the storm. Fear crept in, and in that instant, he began to sink.
Desperate, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately, Jesus reached out His hand, caught him and said:
“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” – Matthew 14:31
This moment wasn’t just about walking on water—it was about trust. It was about learning that fear will always surround us, but Jesus is greater. No matter how fierce the waves, He is in control.
Peter’s faith allowed him to step out, but it was doubt that made him sink. Fear tells us to stay where it’s “safe,” but real faith calls us beyond our comfort zone.
Even when we start sinking, Jesus is quick to catch us. Peter’s mistake wasn’t stepping out—it was taking his eyes off Jesus. But even in his doubt, Christ was there, ready to lift him up.
Fear will always try to convince us that the waves are bigger than Jesus.
But faith reminds us that the storm is no match for the One who walks on water.
A Thought to Reflect On
What is God asking you to step into today? Is there an area in your life where fear has kept you from moving forward?
Remember, Jesus is greater than the storm, and He will not let you sink. Keep your eyes on Him, walk in faith, and trust that His hand is always there to catch you.
Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
